  Otkrytie Auto: in January, Russians spent about 348 billion rubles for used cars

  Experts from Otkrytie Auto (auto business unit of Otkrytie Bank) and AUTOSTAT agency conducted a joint study of the Russian used car market and determined its financial capacity in January 2023. According to the results of the study, in the first month of the year, the inhabitants of our country spent 347 billion rubles for the purchase of used cars, which is 29% more than in January 2022 (268.7 billion rubles).

  The market of used cars grew only in Chechnya in 2022

  Last year, among all subjects of the Russian Federation, the growth of the used car market was preserved only in the Chechen Republic, experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" noted. So, in Chechnya, for the whole of 2022, 79.1 thousand cars changed their owners, and this volume turned out to be 0.7% higher than in 2021.

  Dynamics of the secondary market in the mass and premium segments

  The structure of the used car market when divided into mass and premium segments resembles the state of affairs in the new car market. Here, brands of mass brands also prevail, and their ratio with the "premium" is about the same: 90% to 10%. Just for 5 months of this year, more than 2 million mass-produced cars and almost 227 thousand premium cars were purchased in the secondary market.
