1.87 million vehicles were produced in Russia in 2014, that is 14% less than a year ago.

So the Russian automotive production has been decreasing for two years and the decline rates accelerated considerably. At the same time, 127,500 passenger cars (-7.5%) and 22,000 trucks (-18.5%) were exported.

About 90% of automotive production in Russia are generated by passenger cars, that is 1.66 million vehicles (-12.6%). At the same time, the share of traditional domestic brands decreased to below a quarter.

AVTOVAZ remained the leader of the Russian automotive industry, having assembled almost 433,000 passenger cars  – that is 3.8% less than a year ago. Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in St. Petersburg became the largest foreign vehicle manufacturer for the first time, having broken long-term hegemony of Avtotor, Kaliningrad. Last year HMMR plant assembled 237,000 vehicles, that is 3.3% more than a year ago.

In 2014 truck enterprises in Russia decreased their production by a quarter to 159,100 vehicles, which is 8.5% of the total automotive production in the country.
