AUTOSTAT analytic agency prepared marketing report “Automotive industry in Russia. Results of 2013, Prospects”, which traditionally contains information about production of motor vehicles: passenger cars and commercial vehicles in Russia. Besides cumulative data and analysis of the trends in the Russian automotive industry, the report contains information about each enterprise, including last year’s results, production dynamics for the recent years, as well as profile of the company including information on the operating activities and development prospects. The report also contains forecast of automobile production in Russia till 2020, prepared by AUTOSTAT specialists.

In 2013 automotive enterprises in Russia produced 2.18 million vehicles, that is 2.6% less than in 2012. So the three years’ growth of the Russian automotive industry changed into a little decrease. At the same time 138,000 passenger cars (+22%) and 27,000 trucks (+43.6%) were exported.

Lion’s share (over 85%) in the automotive industry belongs to passenger cars with a little more than 1.9 million vehicles produced (-3%). Foreign manufacturers continue to strengthen their hand in this segment, last year their share exceeded 70%. At the same time the share of traditional domestic enterprises does not reach even 30%. AVTOVAZ remains the leader of the Russian automotive industry with 451,300 passenger cars, that is 18.1% less than a year ago. Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad has been the largest manufacturer of foreign vehicles in Russia for seven years. Last year the enterprise assembled 242,800 passenger cars – that is 2.7% less than a year ago.

In 2013 truck enterprises increased their production by 2.6% up to 212,500 vehicles, which is about 10% of the total automotive production in our country. However despite the fact that the production has been growing for four years, the last year’s result is still far from pre-crisis output. Truck production remains highly consolidated, as 75% of vehicles are manufactured by three enterprises. The traditional leaders are GAZ (108,100 vehicles; +3.9%), KAMAZ (42,900 vehicles; -9.2%) and UAZ (35,200 vehicles; -7.5%).

Bus production has only 2.5% share of the Russian automotive industry, i.e. 54,400 vehicles (-85) in terms of numbers. Over 60% of products come from three domestic enterprises: GAZ (12,300 vehicles; -20.2%), UAZ (11,300 vehicles; -17.6%) and PAZ (9,900 vehicles; -15.1%).

Marketing report “Automotive industry in Russia. Results of 2013, Prospects” is prepared with an office research method. The major information sources are our own databases and the information obtained from the market players directly.  All data, presented in the report is clearly organized and complied in tables.
