As for the passenger car market it also grew and set the record as well – almost 2.76 million new passenger cars. However the growth rates slowed down due to the market saturation, which meets the current situation in the Russian economy, which is defined by high oil prices and favourable conjuncture in the market of raw materials. Moreover, income of population is growing very slowly, the share of credit sales has stabilized and there is no expansionary actions from government. So, we do not expect further market growth in 2013. Most probably, we can expect stabilization period or even slight sales decrease (by 5-7%).

We should also mention that last year market of new commercial vehicles exceeded 350,000 vehicles, that is almost 6% more than a year ago. A little more than 55% of this number came from LCV, that is 195,000 vehicles (+1.7%). The share of heavy-duty trucks is 29% of the total registration or 101,900 vehicles (+17.4%). Medium-duty trucks generate about a tenth of the market (36,000 vehicles; +3.6%). Other 5% come from buses, which is the only segment with decrease in registration (-.2% to 17,900 vehicles).

On 1 January 2013 automobile parc in Russia had 47.9 million vehicles. Passenger cars generate almost 81% of the total parc, which is 38.8 million cars. About 12% of the total parc in Russia belong to trucks (5.7 million vehicles). Buses have less than 2% share (0.9 million vehicles). The country also has 2.5 million motorcycles (not less than 5% share).
