In Russia, there are 100 thousand LCVs produced in the USSR

According to the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", in our country there are 100.3 thousand light commercial vehicles produced in the Soviet era, i.e. until 1992. This is approximately 2.5% of the total parc of LCV (as of January 1st, 2019).

Over a half of such light commercial vehicles fall on the UAZ brand - in total in the Russian Federation there are about 55 thousand “loaves” produced in the USSR. The second place is occupied by IZH - at the beginning of the year 35.5 thousand of these light commercial vehicles were registered that were usually called among the people “heel” or “pie”.

In addition to them, the “Soviet” LCV parc included two more, but already non-existent brands, both of which are from the former Soviet republics. These are cars produced at the Riga Bus Factory (Latvia) and the Yerevan car factory (Armenia). If the vehicles of Riga bus factory produced in the USSR are 8.8 thousand units in our country, then the vehicles, produced in Armenia are almost a thousand.

As the experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" note, the active growth of the LCV parc in our country began in the 90s of the last century. It was at that time that the Gorky Automobile Plant launched the Gazelle, which is currently the most widespread light commercial model in Russia. It is also worth noting the beginning of the import of LCV from abroad, especially Japanese brands.
