The Russian car market grew by 18% in September


Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles grew by 17.9% to 148,371 cars in Russia in September. According to the results of nine months of 2017, the Russian car market grew by 10.6% up to 1 million 129 thousand 374 cars, according to the data of the Association of European Businesses. 

As noted in the AEB, September proved that it is another month in the way of restoring the Russian market. Compared to the last year, quarterly sales from July to September grew by a significant 17.7% and in absolute figures (410 thousand cars) they reached the same quarter two years ago. The mood of the market is that the positive trend will continue in the coming months. Accordingly, the AEB forecast for 2017 has been changed upwards and now it is equal to 1.58 million cars, which is more by 10.8% compared to the previous year.

Leadership in the Russian car market is held by AVTOVAZ, which sold 28,263 LADA cars in the last month, which is more by 24% than a year ago. The second place in terms of sales was occupied by KIA - the sale of 18,797 cars (+ 40%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. Hyundai occupied the third line with the figure of 15,899 sold cars, which is more by 12% compared to the last year. Then Renault follows - cars of this brand were chosen by 12,739 buyers (+ 22%). The top-five of leaders is closed this time by Volkswagen, sales of which were 8,057 cars (+ 15%).

The TOP-10 of the best-selling brands also included Toyota (7599 units, -10%), Nissan (6650 units, + 1%), Skoda (5790 units, + 20%), GAZ (5100 units, + 3%) and Ford (4663 units, + 33%) in September.
