Toyota is the leader by the import of cars to Russia

According to the Federal Customs Service, the legal entities imported 218.3 thousand of new cars and 15.7 thousand of used cars in Russia in 2016. As a consequence, for the year the total volume of imports fell by 22% and it was 234 thousand cars.

According to the import of new cars, Japanese Toyota (58.4 thousand units, -9.5%) traditionally takes the leadership, its share has grown up to 27%. The next three places are occupied by premium brands. In the second place there is the German Mercedes-Benz with a share of 16% (34.6 thousand units, -18%). Japanese Lexus (24.8 thousand units, + 19%), whose share was 11%, climbed to the third place. Behind him there is the German Audi (18.9 thousand units, -20%). The top-five is closed by the Korean Hyundai (11 thousand units; - 67.5%). The share of the rest brands was below 5%.

Among used vehicles, Toyota (10.1 thousand units, + 167%) also leads, which owns two-thirds of the total amount. The next eight positions are also occupied by Japanese brands, among which there could be marked Nissan (2,1 thousand units, + 86%), Honda (1,9 thousand units, + 99%) and Subaru (870 units, + 6%), as their share exceeds 5% of imports. Other brands do not collect 5% in total.
