Volkswagen increased the sales of passenger and commercial cars on 38%
During the first six months of 2008 Volkswagen realized 20586 of passenger- and 4661 of commercial cars in Russia through official dealers. Comparing with the same period of the last year, the total growth of sales constituted 38% (a year ago there were realized 13273 of passenger – and 2360 of commercial cars.

Stanley Root regards the Russian market with optimism
The russian automotive market could become the biggest market in Europe until the end of the current year. This is the opinion of partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Stanley Root. According to his estimation, there will be sold 3, 6 – 3, 8 mln cars in Russia in 2008. At the same time, the annual sales of german automotive market are 3, 3 – 3, 4 mln cars.

AVTOVAZ stopped to output hatchbacks LADA 112
As “AUTOSTAT” informs, in June AVTOVAZ stopped to output the cars LADA 112. At the main conveyer they were completely replaced by hatchbacks LADA Priora, whose output will reach the planned production capacity this month.

On totals of the first half – year of 2008 General Motors showed a 60% growth in Russia and sold 181138 cars. So, the rates of growth of sales of the american automotive concern in Russia is leaving behind a 35% growth of market

Ford showed the growth on 20% in Russia
For the first six months of 2008 the sales of Ford constituted 97626 cars at the russian market. In comparison with the same period of the last year (when there were realized 81618 cars), the growth of sales is +20%. Mondeo showed the biggest increase. Comparing with the first six months of 2007, the sales of this model grew on 100% until 6126 cars

Volkswagen starts to sale new cars Tiguan of the Russian assembly
The russian dealers of Volkswagen will output a new model Tiguan on the 1st of August in 2008. The model will be offered in two modifications - Track & Field and Sport & Style, which ensure different possibilities of geometric cross-country ability. The both modifications are offered with two engines: one with 150 h.p. – 1.4 TSI (the recommended price 904000 rur) and another with 170 h.p. – 2.0 ТSI (1053550 rur). They work in pair with 6- speed automatic gearbox

The make Nissan is rather popular in Russia: its park is on the second place after Toyota in quantitative sense. For the beginning of the current year there were over 800 thsd of Nissan cars registered in GIBDD. Peugeot has increased the sales in Russia almost in two times
During the first six months of 2008 the filial Peugeot has realized 20331 cars in Russia. This index exceeds the volume of sales of Peugeot on 96% against the first six months of 2007, when there were sold 10386 of Peugeot cars. So, the rates of growth of sales of Peugeot cars leave behind the rates of growth of the market (+36% on data for the end of May).

Fiat and BMW are elaborating a common platform
In Turin there were signed a memorandum of understanding in questions of development of automotive components and of uniform platform for cars Mini and Alfa Romeo. The production of the third generation of BMW Mini and of another model MiTo, on basis of Fiat Grande Punto, has to be started at the beginning of the next decade. Fiat and BMW also consider the possibility of development of a new family of gasoline and diesel engines.
