How do the newcomers of Russian market feel?

Among the inexpensive cars there are appeared many new models, but the relative success was achieved so far only by Nissan Almera of Togliatti assembly: the first four months of this year, it was sold 16,950 sedans, although the bestseller of segment Hyundai Solaris found 35,218 buyers. There are not good sales of Daewoo Gentra (8677) and Chevrolet Cobalt (7543), Chevrolet Aveo is behind (6221), and imported twins Citroen C-Elysée and the Peugeot 301 were sold together in amount of not more than 2500 cars. In May, new Renault Logan and Skoda Rapid came to the market.

New Skoda Octavia is sold excellent (13,171), topped the rating of sales-class golf, although the former Octavia sold even better a year ago (14,617): it affects four percent decline in total demand. After the change of generations, sales of family Mazda 3 increased by a quarter (4679), but the Kaluga sedan Citroen C4 (3188) did not meet expectations.

Restart of Alfa Romeo brand has not brought success so far: six dealers sold only nine Giulietta hatchback for the first two months. Even BMW coupe of the second series for the same time was chosen by 28 buyers. Good start of sedan Audi A3: 1246 cars for four months. Now four-door cars have two thirds of sales family A3. Sales of sedan Mercedes-Benz CLA (884) are still governed by quotas.

Updated Opel Insignia (1707) is sold one and a half times better than the pre-updated version, but all the growth came to the long-awaited modification with 170-horsepower engine and “automatic” transmission. A new Mercedes S-Class is crushed literally main competitors: sedan was sold in amount of 1391 against 307 BMW of 7 series and 266 of the updated Audi A8.

Among compact crossovers the major disappointment was the Suzuki New SX4: it was sold only 1693 cars for  four months - four times less than even the crossover Nissan Qashqai of the first generation (new model went on sale at the end of April). A demand for Peugeot in 2008 ran into quotas: it was sold only 398 cars the first two months, the queue is until August.

Interest to the new Chinese crossovers was weak. Geely Emgrand X7 found only one and a half thousands of customers for four months, which is three times less than veteran Chery Tiggo. Changan CS35 (285) and Haima 7 (152) are far behind, although they, unlike Geely, have automatic transmission. In April dealers got Brilliance V5 and JAC 55, but for the first month they did not have even a hundred of buyers.

Good sales are belonged to the third generation Toyota Highlander - it was sold 2274 cars for four months, and some dealers have a queue until the end of the year. The seven-seat Hyundai Grand Santa Fe during the same period found only 280 buyers (even its predecessor ix55 was sold better by a quarter a year ago), and a little more compact and affordable Ford Edge was chosen only by 202 clients.

After the restyling, sales of SUVs Jeep Grand Cherokee have more than doubled (2,108 cars for four months) - even Mercedes ML-Class remained behind (1,884). The new BMW X5 (1136) is currently available only in expensive versions of American-made, so the sale are at the same level as last year, but with the appearance “advantageous” cars of Kaliningrad assembly in June, demand should grow. But the new Range Rover Sport (1129) has already doubled the last year's result of predecessor. In April formal sales of cars Acura started, and for the first month two Moscow dealers sold 112 crossovers (mostly it is older model MDX).


Following Octavia, Volkswagen Golf 1.6 got aspirated engine (110 HP), which will replace in our market turbo-four 1.2 TSI (105 HP). Such Golf are offered with a five-speed “mechanics” or traditional six-speed “automatic”, and the price compared to turbo versions rose by 19 thousand rubles: 765 thousand rubles. Dealers are already taking orders, but deliveries will start only at the end of July. Therewith, the de-forced version of the engine 1.2 TSI (85 HP) will be kept – it is installed in the most simple version of Golf with the price of 636 thousand rubles. By the way, this summer in Russia there were to appear estate car Volkswagen Golf Variant and small Golf Sportsvan (model replacement of Golf Plus), but due to the sharply increased euro, their launch was held - at least until next year.

Sales of SUVs Jeep Cherokee of new generation began (AR, # 9, 2014), and the company finally decided to deliver us the basic version with two-wheel drive. The front-drive version of Cherokee Sport with petrol “four” 2.4 (177 HP), nine-speed “automatic”, ESP, usual conditioning, power accessories and CD-receiver with touch screen costs 1.42 million rubles. Sport for all-wheel drive version will be sold for minimum 1.53 million rubles, and the version of Longitude with climate control, rear parking sensors and fog lights is estimated at 1.63 million rubles. Almost the same price is for Kia Sorento 2.4 (175 HP) in the maximum configuration, and BMW X3, Mercedes GLK and Audi Q5 with automatic transmission are much more expensive: more than 2 million rubles. For the same money you can buy the most powerful Jeep Cherokee V6 (3,2 l, 272 hp) with leather interior.
