“Rolf” reduces the investment program because of market falling

Russian largest car dealer “Rolf” reduce its investment in 2014 2.7 times, up to 1 billion rubles, due to the falling of sales and deteriorating of macroeconomic situation. This year the company will not build new dealerships and it will focus on repairing of existing trading platforms and it will update the parc of demonstration cars”, representative of “Rolf” informed “RBK daily”. The company expects a falling car market by the end of the year by more than 10 %.

Because of the negative market dynamics dealers will be very wary of investment”, says the analyst of “VTB Capital”, Vladimir Bespalov. “Depending on the needs of a particular dealer, there are opportunities of investment in the lease, and in the construction. All that has been done before will be done in a much smaller scale and depending on current market conditions”, - concludes the analyst.

During the crisis of 2008-2009, many dealers have also stopped their investment, froze construction and revised plans to open new dealerships, recalls a senior analyst of PwC, Sergey Litvinenko. Now there are a lot of proposals in the market for the acquisition of dealerships, perhaps, someone changes strategy - it starts to buy existing facilities instead of self-construction, supposes the analyst. According to him, those dealers, who were more cautious to program development in 2008-2009, were finally in a better position because they had a lower debt burden. “One of the problems of the industry – is high debt burden of dealers. Perhaps now dealers makes sense to wait and see how the market will develop”, - says Mr.Litvinenko.
