How many cars does one dealership sell in Russia?
  • 11.10.18 How many cars does one dealership sell in Russia?

In the new study, the experts of the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" decided to analyze what is the average annual efficiency of a single car dealership in Russia. The study was based on two indicators at the end of 2017 - the sale of new cars and the revenue from it.

Nissan plans to sell in Russia to 120,000 Datsun cars per year

In 2014, it will be assembled 25,000 Datsun on-Go at the facilities of AvtoVAZ, and in two - three years the figure is planned to reach 120,000 vehicles a year. It was stated by corporate vice president and global head of brand Datsun, Vincent Kobe, and he added that it was assembled 30 test vehicles for today and mass production will begin in July of 2014. Engine and transmission for a new car will be produced in Togliatti, by allowing the company, according to Mr.Kobe, to depend less on the fluctuations of the ruble in the production of Datsun on-Go.

Also this year, the production of the second model Datsun will start in Togliatti, which the company plans to show at the Moscow International Motor Show in the autumn, and the third model should appear in the next three years, says “RBK”. The company plans to focus in Russia on the segment of B, and the production of crossover under the Datsun brand cannot be excluded, said Mr.Kobe. According to him, the production of Datsun will be aimed primarily at Russia. Kazakhstan and Ukraine are among the possible export markets of Datsun from Russia and deliveries to the Middle East, Africa and Latin America cannot be excluded in the long term.

First of all, Datsun will take the market share from “relatives” - Kalina and Granta, thinks the director of Auto-dealer.ru, Oleg Datskiv. According to him, Datsun will also compete in Russia with the Renault Logan and Sandero, Chinese models, wrote the newspaper “Vedomosti”. Cannibalism within the alliance will not be, models will complement each other, says the president of the alliance Renault-Nissan, Carlos Ghosn. At the first stage the sales of Datsun in Russia will be small, and there are only few dealers, so AvtoVAZ will feel competition with the new brand not earlier than in 2015, says a source close to the Russian carmaker. According to him, Datsun may theoretically even overtake Granta, which is now the market leader, but for this the brand need to have no less than 400 dealers in the country too, and the corresponding price. At the initial stage Datsun network will include 25 dealerships in key regions of the country. The next two years it will increase the network to 100 dealerships, located throughout Russia.

Carlos Ghosn predicts the drop in sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in 2014 by 8.3 % to 2.55 million vehicles. However, he still believes the Russian market as the main purpose of the company, and the weakening of the ruble – is an advantage for Russian producers and for those foreign manufacturers who have localized production in Russia, including the Datsun. According to Carlos Ghosn, Nissan intends to triple its sales in Russia the next three years and to double the share of the market. “We expect that at least one third of sales will come from brand Datsun”, - said the head of Renault-Nissan. By 2016, Nissan plans to take 10 % of the market (for the first two months - 7.9%), among which 3% must come from Datsun, said earlier the Managing Director of Nissan in Russia, Philip Sayar.

In 2013, sales of Nissan in Russia decreased by 5% to 146,319 units (the whole market fell by 5.5% to 2.78 million units), but in January - February of 2014 against the background of a shrinking market they increased - by 28% to 28209 vehicles. The designed production capacity of Almera in Togliatti helped the increase, notes Mr.Datskiv. According to him thanks to the appearance of Datsun and its strong advertising support sales of Japanese concern in Russia could increase by the results of the year.
