There were identified important additional options in case of used car choosing

The most popular additional options among Russian buyers of used cars were signaling and air conditioning. This is the conclusion of analysts of Superavtomarket “Formula 91”, who conducted a survey of consumer preferences in order to reveal which additional equipment is important for customers when they choose a used car. 350 people - 80% of men (280) and 20 % of women (70) attended in a poll that was conducted at the sites of Superavtomarket.
Market of Used Cars offers customers a wide range of possibilities. Cars with the same price have absolutely different configuration, and in case of the correct choice it can be found a used car with much more rich equipment than when buying a new car.

The most popular additional options in a used car were identified by respondents; they are air conditioning (90 % of women and 70 % men) and signaling (70 % of women and 62% men). In general, the fair half of mankind is much more demanding to the configuration of selected used car. Thus, the presence of modern audio system is important for 50% of women, while only 19 % of men remarked this additional equipment as necessary. Leather interior should be in the future cars of 60 % of women, and alloy wheels - 40% of respondents surveyed (22 % and 20 % of men, respectively). Also the presence of airbags (50 % of the surveyed women), climate control (40%) and cruise control (30%) are also important for women. For men, these additional options are less important (41 %, 19 % and 19 % respectively). The presence of heated seats (38 % of men and 40 % women) and an additional set of tires (36% men and 40% women) are important almost equal for men and women.

Significant differences were observed also among car buyers in different price categories. It is natural, auto buyers in category RUB 700 - 1000 thousand are the most demanding on the presence of various additional options.

However, the most popular optional equipment is air-conditioning for all price categories. Even if the vehicle is in the category of RUB 300 - 500 thousand, the presence of air conditioning is crucial for 70 % of respondents, while signaling - for 49% of respondents. By increasing the price of the car, the importance of signaling increases - its presence is important for 73% of car buyers in the category of RUB 500-700 thousand and 90 % of buyers in the category of RUB 700 – 1000 thousand.

Respondents aged 30-39 years and 50-59 years are the most demanding for the presence of additional options in a used a car. At the same time young respondents in the age group 20-29 years are the least demanding.

“There is a widespread stereotype that women are choosing a car, first of all, by focusing on the design and appearance”, - commented the Sales Manager of Superavtomarket “Formula 91”, Andrei Medvedev, the results of survey. – “Of course, the value of these characteristics is still high. However, our research shows that the comfort travel by car gets a special value today, so far, primarily for women and for men, who buy expensive cars. But with account of the current development of the car market, the appearance of a wide range of additional options even on the cars of economy class, comfort and safety of movement will become more important, regardless of gender, age or income”.
