ZIL will start the test assembly of minivans Fiat and Hyundai until the end of the year

The serial assembly of minivans at ZiL will begin in the spring of 2014, said the deputy mayor of Moscow, Natalia Sergunina. According to her, the first cars will be assembled even before the New Year, and the serial assembly in the full amount will be implemented from March 1st, 2014. It is assumed that the company will produce more than 7,000 cars in 2014, wrote “RBK”. Ms.Sergunina reported that minivans Fiat, Hyundai, and possibly, Renault will be assembled at the plant.

The head of Renault in Russia, Bruno Anselen, said in the mid-September at the Frankfurt Motor Show that Renault is conducting currently the expert review and it calculates the profitability of the project for a possible launch of LCV production at facilities of ZiL. However, he denied the reports that it was signed a tripartite agreement between the “MosavtoZIL” (a subsidiary of the ZIL), Renault and Fiat to organize the contract manufacturing of LCV of these brands at the Russian company territory. Top-manager of Renault added that negotiations with the Russian company have not been completed yet and parties are developing an economic model and they are calculating the profitability of the project now. Mr. Anselen noted that it is considered a variant of production of a large van by CKD assembly - otherwise, the delivery of components to the plant would be unprofitable. Renault continues to negotiate with the representatives of the Moscow administration, ZiL and its partner, Sberbank, as well as with Fiat.
