Chinese brands are increasing the share in the Russian market

At the end of three quarters of 2013 sales of passenger cars of Chinese brands in Russia increased by 36 %. Brands from China were the only ones, who show strong growth, according to the statistics prepared by the magazine “AutoBusinessReview”.

Seven Chinese companies have sold 71.8 thousand vehicles for the first nine months of the year, and their combined share has reached the mark of 3.77 %, whereas it was 2.6 % the last year (3.63 % in the first half of 2013). Geely continues to hold the first place: 19.5 thousand vehicles found their buyers, sales rose by 64.4 %. Lifan that ceded the lead in the middle of the year is behind only by 238 cars, but the dynamics is not as impressive (+29 %). It is noteworthy that Geely and Lifan broke the barrier of 1% by the market share at first. Chery (14,8 thousand cars) managed to get around Great Wall (14,5 thousand cars ), but the growth of the last one is much more prominent - 70% vs. 2.8%.

FAW is expanding gradually the model range and it goes into new segments: sales of cars resumed in the last year, and it was sold 3,226 units in January- September of 2013. Brands Haima (-57%) and BYD (-95,5%) are in the list of laggards: the first one has a crossover Haima7 in the asset, who had just entered the market, and sales of the second brand were stopped because of the termination of the assembly in TagAZ.
