Buyers of used cars prefer sedans with automatic transmission

By choosing a used car, Russians often choose a black sedan with a petrol engine, automatic transmission, worth RUB 500-700,000. This is the conclusion of analysts of Superavtomarket “Formula 91”, who conducted a survey of consumer preferences in order to identify the most attractive options for buyers of used cars.

The most popular type of body with the majority of votes was the sedan - 48% of the respondents voted for it. Hatchback cars are in the second place - 14% of votes, crossovers are in the third place - 11% of votes. 8% of the respondents voted for Minivans, - 7% of respondents for SUVs, estate cars and coupes got 6% of votes.

Automatic transmission starts to win in the eternal confrontation between manual and automatic transmissions - 52% of the respondents voted for it (for mechanical - 48%).

Petrol engines are still the most popular in Russia. They were chosen by 86% of the buyers of used cars. Diesel was supported only by 14% of respondents.

52% of respondents expect to buy a used car for RUB 500-700,000; 32% - for RUB 300-500 thousand, 9% - RUB 700-1000 rubles, 5% - up to RUB 300,000, and only 2% of respondents plan to buy a car worth more than RUB 1 million.

“These figures are mainly relevant, rather, for the residents of Moscow and Moscow region, who, according to the results of the survey, plan to use the car for a daily travel for a work - says the head of sales of Superavtomarket “Formula 91”, Andrei Medvedev. – “It means the greater comfort at the expense of the value of low-cost or, for example, roominess and terrain”.

350 people attended in a poll that was conducted at the sites of Superavtomarket “Formula 91”, 80% of men (280) and 20% of women (n = 70), among which 82% were residents of Moscow and the Moscow region, 18% - people from other regions of Russia. Interviewees were have to identify the most attractive options of a used car for themselves: body type, engine and transmission, as well as the price of the car.

Earlier Superavtomarket “Formula 91” conducted an analysis of consumer preferences regarding to the most popular colors of used cars. Then the most popular color of used car was called black by respondents (33% of votes), silver (18%) was in the second place, white (15%) - in the third place, blue (12%) - in the fourth place, red (6 % of the votes) - in the fifth place. 30 respondents (1%) chose different colors - green, yellow, etc. 15% of respondents could not decide regarding their preferred colors of a car.
