Chevrolet Niva

The joint venture “GM-AutoVAZ” is going to increase the capacity of production from 98 thousand to 120 thousand cars per a year, informed the General Manager of the joint venture, Jeffrey Glover. By his words, the necessity of capacities increasing occurred in connection with the plans of production launch of new generation of Chevrolet Niva and also “an additional product” in 2015. He didn’t specify the model, which would be produced by company as “an additional product”. 

“According to official plans, the start of production of new generation of Chevrolet Niva should be in December of 2014, the start of sales – in 2015. We should make modernization from this moment till the production start”, - said Mr. Glover to “Interfax” agency and he remarked that at the present time we work with the components suppliers for upgraded vehicle. 

“Thereby, our aim is to keep all strong sides of this car. Everything that customers love in this car”, - cited the words of Mr. Glover “Finmarket” agency.

It should be reminded that within the new agreement of industrial assembly, General Motors is going to increase the production capacities in Russia to 350 thousand cars per a year by 2015. Investments of company will be 1 billion dollars in Russia for five years.

The joint venture GM-AutoVAZ produces vehicles from September of 2002. At the present time Chevrolet Niva is being produced in the plant.
