St. Petersburg plant Toyota will introduce the second shift

St. Petersburg plant “Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia” will start to work in two shifts from September of 2012. The number of workers that are being hiring at the present time will be 600 people. By the moment of introduction of the second shift it will be 1750 workers in the enterprise. 

As it was informed earlier, by 2014 St. Petersburg plant Toyota is going to increase the production and to create shops of body details stamping and the production of plastic details. As representatives of “TMMR” remarked, the decision was taken with aim of the future development of localization level of Toyota production in Russia and with account of expected stable growth of Russian market. Investments in the project of plant increasing will be about 2,7 billion Roubles. 

By the results of 2011 St. Petersburg plant Toyota produced 14131 of Toyota Camry cars and it is less by 11,1% than in the previous year (15892 units). The decreasing of production volume in the enterprise is explained by the transferring to a new model Toyota Camry of seventh generation, the serial production of which was started in St. Petersburg in November of the previous year.
