More than 50% of passenger cars in Russia do not correspond to “Euro-2” standards

More than a half (51%) of Russian parc of passenger cars do not correspond to ecologic standard “Euro-2”. These data were received by analysts of AUTOSTAT agency by the results of conducted analysis of car parc of Russia. About 16,1% of passenger cars in our country correspond to norms “Euro-2”, 15,4% - “Euro-3”, “Euro 4/5” – 17,5%.

And also 59,7% of parc do not correspond to “Euro-2” norms in segment of light commercial vehicles and only 7,2% of LCV meet  the requirements of “Euro-4” standards. Parc of trucks is even older in Russia. So, 78% of parc do not correspond to “Euro-2” norms and only 4,9% of trucks in Russia meet the requirements of “Euro-4” standards.

According to data of AUTOSTAT, it was more than 42 million vehicles as of beginning of 2012, including 35 million of passenger cars. As experts remarked, parc of passenger cars increased annually by 3% in average, parc of trucks demonstrated even less growth during the last three years. So, the upgrading of Russian car parc is quite slow, concluded analysts of AUTOSTAT agency.

According to the forecast of AUTOSTAT agency, the parc of vehicles in Russia will exceed a mark of 50 million units, among them more than 42 million units will be passenger cars by 2016. Concerning changes in the parc by Euro norms, the number of vehicles that do not meet “Euro-2” requirements will decrease to 42% and 29,1% of cars will correspond to “Euro-4” standards in Russia.

It should be reminded that according to the present technical regulation about requirements to automotive exhausts, it is permitted the production and sale of cars of “Euro-3” class till the end of this year and cars should be transferred to ecologic class “Euro-4” from January 1st of 2013.
