    In October of this year, sales of cars and LCV in Russia, according to the AEB, amounted to 160,425 units. This result is more by 8.2% than a year ago. In total, for 10 months, sales of cars in our country were 1 million 457.9 thousand units, which is more by 14.1% than in January - October of the last year.



Volkswagen will create a new brand for low-cost cars

German car concern Volkswagen AG will start to produce cars for developing markets under new brand, informed the member of board of directors of company, Ulrich Hackenberg. Models at price 5000-7000 Euros will be produced with another brand, said the top-manager, who is responsible for development of brands of German concern. New brand will appear first of all in India and China, where Volkswagen produces models that are intended for local markets.

“We produces model Vento in India and local version of model Polo, which costs about 7 thousand Euro”, - he remarked. In China Volkswagen plans to sell model, the size of which corresponds to Seat Toledo, informed “Finmarket” agency. As Mr. Hackenberg informed, car producer improved its experience in this way and it is going to offer products that are linked with certain markets.

It should be reminded that earlier Japanese concern Nissan announced about the revival of brand Datsun, which should strengthen positions of Nissan in countries with quickly developed economy. The first cars will be on sale in Indonesia, India and Russia. Nissan is going to sell 300 thousand of Datsun with price about 6200 dollars per a year in the world, wrote newspaper “Vedomosti”. 

It is profitable for world concerns to use different brands in different markets, as by winning in mass segment in one market, they have a risk to lose image in another one, supposes the head of Russian representatives of JATO  Dynamics, Vladimir Vidulov. By his words, if the most mass segment of cars in Central Europe includes cars with price 15-20 thousand Euros and in Western Europe – 20-25 thousand Euros, then in Russia about 55% of market are cars with price before 15 thousand Euros.
