The average age of cars in Russia is 11,8 years

According to data of the research of Russian car parc structure, which was conducted by analytic agency AUTOSTAT, by the results of 2011 the average age of passenger cars in Russia is 11,8 years. Therewith, the average age of foreign cars is quite lower - 8,4 years and the age of domestic cars is more almost twice - 14,8 years. Therewith, among Russian cars almost the third (32,2%) is in the age of more than 20 years. And among foreign cars we could find only 11,4% of such old cars.

Analysts remarked that young cars are concentrated in centre of Russia and near Volga - the average ages are 10,6 and 10,4 years, respectively. And the oldest cars are in Far East (17,7 years) and in Siberia (14,3 years) - the affect of huge volumes of import of used RHD foreign cars from Japan during the last two decades. It should be reminded that Russian parc had a little bit more than 35 million of passenger cars as of the beginning of 2012.
