Production of the new Toyota Camry started in Russia

Yesterday Toyota plant in Russia started production of the new generation Toyota Camry business-class sedan. We should remind that the new Camry went on sale in the Russian market on 11 November 2011. The car has got the renewed exterior and interior as well as extended range of options. The suggested retail price of the new Camry is from 1.028 million rubles depending on the package.

As Toyota Motor has already informed AUTOSTAT, besides the production of the new generation Toyota Camry at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia plant in St. Petersburg, the cars of this model will also be imported from Japan. At that they say in the company that it is an interim measure to supply the growing demand for one of Toyota bestsellers in the Russian market. The decision about stoppage of importation will depend on the situation in the market.

The new generation Toyota Camry will be offered with two types of engines. The new 2.5 liter, 181 h.p. petrol engine goes with the new 6-speed automatic transmission. The updated 3.5 liter, 277 h.p. V6 engine is supplied with 6-speed automatic transmission. Both variants of the model will be assembled at Toyota plant in Russia as well as imported from Japan, Toyota Motor informed.
