St. Petersburg plant has to stop the production of cars for five days from May 30th because of engines deliveries irregularities from Japanese plant Ivaki, which suffered most of all because of earthquake and tsunami on March 11th. As the representatives of Nissan Motor Rus remarked, the stop of production in St. Petersburg will permit to synchronize the production processes with delivery graph of components. The plant will resume work on June 6th, as informed Reuters agency.
As the director of public relations of Nissan Motor Rus, Tatiana Natarova, remarked, the company even delivers engines by planes to decrease the period of idle. We suppose that the production situation will be restored not later than October of this year, when we will reach again the level of production, which the company had before the tragic events of March, - said Mrs. Natarova to ITAR-TASS agency.
St. Petersburg plant Nissan, the assembly line of which produced 24,5 thousand cars, produces three models at the moment Nissan Teana, X-Trail and Murano. Nissan plans to produce 46 thousand cars in St. Petersburg in the financing year 2011 (which will be finished on March 31st of 2012) and the planned capacity of 50 thousand cars a year.
