The secondary Russian car market increased by 21,5% for nine months

According to the data of last research that was made by AUTOSTAT agency, the secondary Russian car market increased by 21,5% for nine months of 2010 year. Analysts noted that there were re-registered 3,02 million of used passenger cars to new owners during the period from January till September. During the same period the indicator was 2,49 million units. Therewith, during the pre-crisis period (January-September 2008) the secondary market was more by 6% than the current indicator (3,19 million units).
By the words of AUTOSTAT agency director, Sergey Tselikov, the volume of secondary foreign car market increased by 35% to 1,69 million units and the resale of domestic models increased only by 8% and it was 1,33 million units. By the words of expert, there is a trend of substitution of domestic cars for foreign cars in the secondary market. So, if the share of foreign cars was 50% of market in 2009 year then it is 56% now.<> Therewith, the analysts of AUTOSTAT remarked that the leader of the secondary market remains Lada. But during the analyzed period a share of car decreased from 44% to 39%. Japanese Toyota follows Lada with an indicator of 12% of market and it almost three times lags by resale. The third place of this range was occupied by Nissan (4,7%). The fourth and fifth places with the same results (3,1% of market) are divided between Japanese brands Mitsubishi and Honda. Ford (2,9%), Volkswagen (2,6%), Hyundai (2,6%), Chevrolet (2,3%) and Mazda (2,1%) are in the top-10 of the most popular used foreign cars.
