Are the Russians satisfying with the acceleration dynamics of their cars?


In 2009 the Russian car market got $30 billion

Following the results of 2009 proceeds on the Russian car market constituted about 30 billion USD that is less by 57% than a similar index last year (64.5 billion USD). Such data were published by the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" after calculations were done based on sales volumes and average prices of all basic brands which are present on the Russian market.
The domestic brand LADA with 3.03 billion USD became the leader in proceeds volume. Toyota occupies the second place with small backlog (2.85 billion USD). Nissan settled down on the third place and earned 2.01 billion USD in 2009. Ford which realized cars at 1.88 billion USD and Chevrolet (1.62 billion USD) took the fourth and fifth places correspondingly.
Speaking about the size of proceeds drop in relation to last year then Honda appears to be among "anti-leaders", the proceeds volume of which fell by 72% during the crisis period. Opel (-65.4%) follows it in negative dynamics, then - Mitsubishi (-65.1%). The least drop of proceeds volumes among the first twenty of leaders of the Russian car market was demonstrated by BMW (-8%) and Audi (-19%).
According to Sergey Tzelikov, the director of the agency "AUTOSTAT", last year many car manufacturers had to reduce prices and offer essential car discounts to keep comprehensible sales volumes. In its turn it led to drop of average prices (in dollar equivalent) for many brands and, correspondingly, to proceeds reduction.
These data are calculation and may not coincide with indexes of car manufacturers. Besides, there is also other operational activity except sale of cars.
