Suzuki increased the share in Russia up to 1.7%

While the majority of the Japanese brands show serious fall in the Russian market because of sharp strengthening of yen to ruble, Suzuki in October-November increased sales in relation to last year and Grand Vitara, its best seller, entered -25 of the best sold models in Russia. So, according to the data of B, in October sales of cars of this Japanese brand grew by 2% up to 3276 units and in November realization growth made 38% up to 3089 cars.
The company ITC Avto RUS (the official importer of Suzuki Motor Corp. in Russia) told the agency "AUTOSTAT" that growth of Suzuki sales in the Russian market in many respects was promoted by the discount campaign Suzuki Present. In particular, since September, 15th Grand Vitara of the Japanese manufacture was possible to buy at the price from 645 thousand rubles that means that price reduction was from 78 to 175 thousand rubles depending on the version. Due to such considerable discount sales of this off-road car in November grew by 129% up to 2304 units that allowed Grand Vitara to enter -25 of the Russian best sellers and to outrun the basic competitors - Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Outlander and Volkswagen Tiguan.
Following the results of 11 months realization of Suzuki made 22687 cars, having decreased by 36%. This is least fall among Japanese brands, whose sales reduced by 60-70%, analysts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" remark. Thus, Suzuki became the only Japanese brand which was able to increase its share in the Russian market - from last year"s 1.3% to 1.7% following the results of January-November, 2009. Besides discount campaigns, it became possible due to transfer of the Russian importer of Suzuki to uniform import of cars from Japan and Hungary at the beginning of this year. ITC Avto RUS remark that it allowed to drive the balanced price policy and in due time to react to changes in the market.
As for prospects in 2010 ITC Avto RUS plans to realize about 24-25 thousand cars in the Russian market. Thus the company plans to keep prices at today"s level. Besides, next year the model line of Suzuki will be significantly updated. In February - the beginning of March, 2010 Suzuki will present updated SX4 and SX4 Sedan in the Russian market. The introduction of the new generation of Swift and a new sport middle-size all-wheel drive sedan Suzuki Kizashi in Russia which premiere should pass at the Moscow autoshow - 2010 will become the main event of the year.
