The Russian auto industry uses only 30 % of its capabilities

According to the data of the research carried out by the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" total capacities in the territory of Russia allow to produce 2.4-2.5 million passenger and light commercial vehicles per year. Thus, this year because of the financial crisis loading of capacities at the auto industry enterprises fell below 30 %. Keeping the current rates totally not more than 700 thousand cars will be assembled in Russia per year that is the lowest result during the whole history of the domestic auto industry since the end of the 60s.
Experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" remark that the result of 2009 can appear to be the worst one within the last 40 years. The analysts state that after 1971 the production of automotive vehicles at the enterprises of the domestic auto industry has never fell below the level of 1 million units. The period from 1993 to 1995, when there was privatization of enterprises, industrial-economic links collapsed and hyperinflation dominated in economy, was the most difficult for the Russian auto industry. But even then the Russian auto plants managed to keep the annual production on the level of a little more than 1 million units. This year will go down in history as the most disastrous for the Russian auto industry. The analysts even forecast that some enterprises and companies won"t live till spring of 2010.
