Where is the stronghold for domestic car industry?

In April of 2009 the specialists of the analytic agency �AUTOSTAT� processed the data of GIBDD by all regions of Russia and grouped them by makes and model year and made up a report. The analysts note that despite a significant growth of sales of foreign cars, domestic cars are more numerous in the Russian automotive park (62, 8%) than of foreign cars (37, 2%). A significant prevalence of Russian models over foreign cars is seen in the south of our country and in Povolghje. The prevalence of foreign cars is fixed in the Far East and in the North � West of our country. The analysts establish that there are 13 regions in Russia, which can be called the stronghold of the Russian car industry.
The share of domestic cars there exceeds 80% from the total number of registered cars in the regional GIBDD. These are: Dagestan (89, 2%), Chechnya (87, 9%), Ulyanovsk region (86, 1%), Karachaevo � Cherkesia (86%), Orenburg region (85, 3%), Ingushetia (85, 3%), Kalmykia (84, 2%), Kabardino � Balkaria (83, 6%), Northern Osetia (83, 2%), Kurgan region (82, 8%), Mordovia (82%), Tambov region (81, 5%), Penza region (80, 9%). In three regions of Russia this index is close to 80%. Saratov region, where AVTOVAZ is located, the share of domestic cars constituted 73, 7%, Nighnij Novgorod region, where GAZ is located, - even less: 71, 5%.
The analysts also note that the Far East is practically is cut from the Russian car industry. The share of foreign cars there constitutes only 23, 8% of park. 90% of them are models older than 10 years. New domestic automotive technics is practically not delivered there.
