Privileged transportation of cars to the Far East is not necessary yet

Measures of the government, directed onto stimulation of transportations of domestic cars to the Far East, have not yet given results. This fact was established last week by the president of OAO Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin. In one of his interviews he reported that �transportations of cars to the Far Eastern region have a little size�. He also said that �there is nothing to spend the compensations, given by the government, for�.
We remind that question at issue is subsidies for 2 bln rur, given to OAO Russian Railways form the budget of Russia for transportation of cars to the Far East, �without taking the transportation tax�. The list of cars, which can be delivered to far regions of Russia, includes the models AVTOVAZ, UAZ and GAZ, as well as cars, assembled in Russia as industrial assembly (Volkswagen, Kia, Chevrolet, Ford, Renault, Toyota, SsangYong). On data of �AUTOSTAT�, the park of foreign cars of the Far East consists on 70% of Japanese models with right steering wheel. Registration of new cars is little. For example, in 2008 there were registered 139, 7 thsd of passenger cars in Primorskij krai, less than 2% (2473 units) of them accounted on share of new cars. The same situation is seen in other regions of the Far East. According to estimations of �AUTOSTAT�, the market share of new cars in Kamchatka constitutes nearly 2%, in Amur region � 2, 8%, in Habarovskij krai � 3, 1%, in Sahalin 4% and in Yakutia � over 7%.
