Every second car sold in France is a local make

As �AUTOSTAT� already reported, the sales of passenger cars for the first six months of 2009 decreased by 3, 9% to 505533 units in France. Over a half of this amount, 54, 5% are cars of French makes.
Out of ten most salable models in France eight are output by the national car manufacturer. As it is noted in the overview of the automotive market of France for March, the French bestseller is a hatchback Peugeot 207 on totals of the first quarter; its realization grew by 6, 4% to 32449 units. Renault Clio is on the second place; its index constituted 31713 of sold cars (+6, 3%). The third place in the TOP � 3 of the most popular models of the French market is occupied by Renault Megane: 30114 of sold units (+6%). Then the TOP -10 is the following: Renault Twingo (28011 cars, +5,5%), Citroen C4 (24374 cars, +4,8%), Peugeot 308 (22047 cars, +4,4%), Citroen C3 (21360 cars, +4,2%), Volkswagen Polo (11702 cars, +2,3%), Ford Fiesta (11404 cars, +2,3%) and Peugeot 206 (10790 cars, +2,1%).
We should also note that 65% of sold cars for the first quarter are hatchbacks and sedans; 26% in the total volume of realization accounted for universals and mini vans of different size; 5% accounted for SUVs.
