Import of second hand cars decreased in 20 times

After the introduction of new customs duties, the import of second hand cars older than 3 years almost completely reduced. This is showed by actual customs statistics, processed by the analytic agency �AUTOSTAT�. The analysts establish that during three months of 2009 there were imported only 4, 4 thsd cars to Russia. The age of those cars exceeds 3 years, which is almost in 20 times less than in the first quarter of 2008.
According to opinion of the analyst of the agency �AUTOSTAT� Dmitrij Agafonov, in 2008 a bit over 20% from the total volume of import of passenger cars accounted for the share of �second hand� cars. In the first quarter of 2009 its share did not exceed 3%. �Some cars got customs clearances until the 11th of January, it means before the introduction of new duties,� � says the expert. According to his words, after the introduction of new tariffs for getting the customs clearances, the share of second hand cars varies within 1% from the total volume of import. In January � March almost two third of import of passenger cars (65, 8%) accounted for cars of 2008 model�s year, establish the analysts. These are stock that remained useless at the enterprises as a result of crisis of overproduction, occurred in the second half of the last year.
