On totals of the first quarter the car market of Ukraine decreased by 70%

The car market of Ukraine is falling in two times faster than the Russian one. On data of the informational � analytic group AUTO � Consulting, in January � March of 2009 there were registered only 45 thsd of new cars in Ukraine, which is by 70% less than the same index of the last year (152 thsd units). During this period the Russian car market fell by 40% to 387, 7 thsd cars.
We should note that the rates of fall of the Ukrainian car market are dangerous: in January there were registered a 55% fall, in February the market fell by 78% and in March there appeared the first signs of stabilization. During the first spring month there were sold nearly 14 thsd cars in Ukraine, which is by 75% less than in March of 2008.
According to estimation of AUTO � Consulting, the Ukrainian car market is at the level between 2003 and 2004 now; there are no signs for fast increase. The analysts of the agency �AUTOSTAT� compare the level of sales at the Russian market with 2005, but they do not exclude that in the second half of the year there may be fall to level of monthly sales of 2004.
