    In 2018, sales of new cars in Russia grew by 12.8% in compare with 2017. Both segments - the mass and premium ones - also showed the growth (+ 13.9% and + 7.4%, respectively). Sales of cars of mass brands reached 1 572 246 units in 2018, the share of which is 91.2% of the total sales volume.



The government will elaborate a special scheme of state help for AVTOVAZ

Yesterday the commission of the first vice- prime Igor Shuvalov was studying a plan of help for AVTOVAZ. On totals of the meeting the president of the company Boris Aleshin said that he counts on state support at level of 26 bln rur. He noted that one of possible variants of help is additional emission of AVTOVAZ or increase of capital of Rustechnologies (the owner of 25% of shares of the factory) with further support of AVTOVAZ. The head of the enterprise underlined that this variant was discussed only partly, it is not coordinated with shareholders of AVTOVAZ (in the person of Troika Dialog) and the French concern Renault.
The newspaper Kommersant reports that AVTOVAZ has been asking the government to give 26 bln rur since October; originally it was supposed that it will be given as credit by the state banks (Vnesheconombank or Sberbank), however the negotiations did not give anything. Yesterday Mr. Aleshin explained that AVTOVAZ needs the biggest part of required means (14 bln rur) for paying off the debts to suppliers (the sum for the end of 2008 - 2009). The rest 12 bln rur are for support of the current activity, he said. The sources in the direction of AVTOVAZ explain that this also means the relations with the suppliers.
Since February, it means since the time when AVTOVAZ pays to the suppliers by bond system (until 70% of purchased car sets are paid by bonds), there were output the amount of bonds for sum 8 bln rur. They have to be paid off in spring and this needs the state financing. The rest 4 bln rur, as the experts suppose, will be required in spring to buy the stock bonds on sum 3 bln rur. According to words of Boris Aleshin, the commission of Igor Shuvalov is ready to treat AVTOVAZ in a special way. The way of state financing of the factory will be chosen in two three weeks, he explained. Until the 24th March the working group, controlled by the deputy of the head of the Ministry of Economics Vitalij Saveljev, will offer its variants for the vice premier Igor Sechin (supervises industry) and the head of the Ministry of finances Aleksej Kudrin. After that the mechanism of state support has to be established in course of one two weeks.
Besides the government AVTOVAZ counts on help of other share holder Renault, said Mr. Aleshin: The Russian and French bank can give a sum by installment for seven years. According to information of sources of the newspaper Vedomosti, the question at issue is lend for seven years at the bank Societe Generale for 165 mln euro. Finally, the loss of AVTOVAZ in 2008 constituted 6, 2 bln rur. The operational profit is at the level of zero 150 mln rur, said Mr. Aleshin and accentuated that the biggest loss was got from increase of prices on raw materials.
