For what reasons can Russians change cars?

In 2008 there were imported 95084 of light commercial trucks (LCV) with a full mass until 5 tons to Russia. The growth against the last year constituted 12%. The share of new cars grew to 65% from the total volume of import of LCV. A year before only 45% of import in this segment accounted for new cars. These data are given in the marketing report Import of trucks to Russia, prepared in the analytic agency AUTOSTAT in March.
The specialists of the agency establish that the make Ford is the leader in the total import of cars in the segment of LCV. Over 16614 cars of this make crossed the border of our country, which is by 56% more than in 2007. The share of new cars among commercial models of Ford, imported to the country, is higher (80%) than on average in the segment.
Volkswagen is on the second place with volume of import 10464 cars. The third place belongs to the make Mitsubishi. On data of the Federal Customs Service, last year there were imported 10272 cars of this make. The fourth place is occupied by the make Nissan (7607 units) mainly owing to a pickup Navara. The fifth positions is occupied by Mercedes for the last year there were imported 7328 of light commercial trucks, nearly the same number of new cars (3875 units) and of second hand cars (3453). The analysts note that over a half (55%) of import in the segment of LCV accounts for five leading makes. Toyota (mainly on account of the Japanese second - hand), Peugeot, Mazda, Renault and FIAT are also in the TOP 10 of leaders.
