Crisis is not an embarrassment for SUVs

The market share of cars of class SUV (including compact, middle sized and full sized SUVs) grew to 22, 1% in January 2009. In January 2008 it constituted 15, 4%, and in general in 2008 18, 9%. During the first month of 2009 there were realized 25100 SUVs at the Russian market, which is by 1, 5% less than in January 2008. The whole Russian market fell by over 30%. These data are given in the marketing overview of the automotive market of Russia, prepared by the analytic agency AUTOSTAT.
The analysts note that the segments of small cars were most influenced by the crisis. So, the sales of the smallest cars of class A fell in more than 3 times to 1350 units in January. The realization of small cars of class B reduced almost in two times from 45180 to 25300 units. The reduction of sales in the most numerous class C (that occupies 40% of market) is a bit less than the average index (- 35, 6%). The business segment (classes D and E) looked better than the market: the reduction constituted 22% and 13%.
