Dealer holdings Avtodom and AvtoSpetsCenter will stop supplying cars for sale in Russia by means of parallel import. Such a decision was made due to supply restrictions, decreasing consumer demand for such cars and the rising cost of imports from Europe, the combined press service of the companies informed Gazeta.Ru.
"In the future, due to supply restrictions and the rising cost of parallel imports of premium cars from Europe, deliveries will be piece-by-piece, and we will reorient our priorities to the development of official deliveries of Chinese electric cars and hybrid cars. It is important that at the same time we will retain service capacities, supply of spare parts and fulfillment of obligations to customers of European brands in full for a long period of time", - said Anna Utkina, Communications Director of the group of companies.
According to her, both holdings believe that premium European brands still have no alternative on the market. In order to arouse the interest of customers in them, dealers will organize a "total sale" of warehouses of cars imported under parallel imports. In 2023, the most popular parallel imported cars were Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche models. As previously reported "AUTOSTAT", from August 1, 2023 it was increased recycling fee on cars and buses imported for resale in Russia. The indexation affected the import of new and used cars by legal entities, but did not affect individuals importing cars with engine capacity up to 3 liters for personal use. For such citizens, the mechanism of paying the recycling fee at a preferential rate – 3.4 thousand for new cars up to 3 years old and 5.2 thousand Rubles for cars over 3 years old - is still in effect.
The rate of recycling fee is indexed 1.7-3.7 times on average for passenger cars (depending on the engine capacity), 2.5-3.4 times for light commercial vehicles, 1.7 times for trucks. Recycling fee for buses will increase on average 2.2 - 4.8 times (depending on the engine volume), for electric buses - 8.7 times.
