Russians spoke about their readiness to refuse their personal car

Cars are becoming more and more expensive, and in addition, the development of rental and car sharing allows you to use them without the hassle associated with their maintenance. Against this background, experts from the agency AUTOSTAT and "Za Rulem" decided to find out to what extent motorists are ready to refuse their personal cars and at the beginning of August 2023 they conducted an online survey on this topic. About 14% to the question "Are you ready to refuse your personal car?" They said: "Yes." However, the majority of respondents (more than 86%) answered "No".

Among those who are not ready to refuse their car, almost every second (48.5%) cannot imagine themselves without a car. Almost 17% are not ready to refuse with the freedom and independence that a personal vehicle gives. “I just like being behind the wheel,” answered 14.1% of respondents. Curiously, 6.9% of participants do not want to refuse their car just because they do not believe in the normal operation of public transport in our country.

And judging by the survey results, if it functions properly, then there would be not 7.6% of people ready to refuse personal transport, but almost twice as many (14.5%), and this would already be every seventh respondent. Only 3% are ready to refuse a personal car due to the fact that maintaining a car has become expensive. Other 2.3% realized that walking is much healthier. The least number of respondents (0.7%) are willing to refuse a car for environmental reasons.
