BN-Motors has completed the construction of automobile plant in the Bryansk region, which is planned to launch the production of light commercial vehicles. Aleksey Podshchekoldin, Chairman of Board of Directors of BN-Motors, informed Avto.ru about it. It is planned that the first model on the assembly line of the enterprise will be a compact commercial truck of Hyundai Porter format. The cars will be produced from the kits of Chinese partner, the name of which has not been disclosed yet.
According to Mr.Podshchekoldin, the production of passenger cars in Bryansk is not planned yet, as it is easier to import them from China. "Of course, there are LCVs in China, for example, such brands as Wuling, Changan, Foton, which could replace European and Korean brands. However, in order to compete with the domestic brands GAZ and UAZ, they need, firstly, to create large-scale trade and service networks in the Russian Federation, localize production and ensure an uninterrupted supply of spare parts (following the example of the departed Ford company), and, secondly, to fulfill adaptation of their cars to Russian conditions," comments the deputy head of analytics department of AUTOSTAT agency, Viktor Pushkarev.
In turn, Oleg Markov, General Director of Modern Transport Technologies Group of Companies, notes that traditionally the share of Chinese players in the LCV market is minimal, as the needs of a client in the low and medium price segment are completely covered by domestic factories. However, potentially with the recovery of the economy and the growth of market capacity of light commercial vehicles, the interest of new Asian players in this segment will also grow.
