New truck sales grew by 40% in 2023

For 4 months of this year, 38.6 thousand new trucks were sold in Russia, which is 40% higher than in January-April 2022. This is reported by experts of "AUTOSTAT" agency with reference to the data of JSC "PPK" *.

Approximately two thirds (65%) of this amount belonged to dump trucks and truck tractors (14.5 thousand and 10.5 thousand units, respectively). And if sales of dump trucks grew 2.2 times, then tractors - by 44%.

Sales volumes of other types of trucks were significantly lower. Thus, the share of on-board vehicles was 8%, vans - 6.7%, truck cranes / lifts - 4.4%, municipal vehicles - 3.8%, construction - 2.7%, tank trucks - 2.4%. Other types of trucks have a little more than 7% of total sales volume.
The agency's experts also noted that despite the significant growth of the truck market in the country, sales of some of their types are declining. For example, the sale of municipal vehicles for 4 months of 2023 decreased by 3%, vans - by 9%, and tankers - by 21%.
