Almaz-Antey invests 37 billion rubles in the restart of the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg

Almaz-Antey concern plans to invest 35-37 billion rubles in the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg restarting, said Mikhail Podvyaznikov, general director of Obukhov Plant. Investments will be used to prepare the enterprise for the production of trucks and electric cars, Business Petersburg portal writes.
According to Mr. Podvyaznikov, the plant is going to produce annually up to 2,000 BAZ trucks and about 55,000-60,000 E-Neva electric cars, the production of which is scheduled to begin in 2024 and 2027, respectively.

The all-wheel drive BAZ-S36A11 was first introduced in April 2023. A vehicle weighing almost 36 tons has a carrying capacity of 22 tons and is powered by a YaMZ diesel engine with a power of 422 hp. The truck chassis can be equipped with a drilling, dumping and pumping superstructure, and can also be used as rescue and fire equipment, shift buses.

In turn, E-Neva electric car was developed on the basis of unmanned modular electric platform presented by Almaz-Antey concern in August 2021. This is a crossover 4.5 meters long, which will be equipped with two electric motors with a total capacity of 364 kW. Thanks to the high torque (824 Nm), the electric vehicle will be able to accelerate to 60 km/h for 2.7 seconds. The mileage on a single charge will be 463 km, the maximum speed is 197 km/h. The electric crossover will be equipped with an 88 kWh LiNMC battery and an energy recovery system.
