Over 1 million cars in Russia are over 35 years old

According to the data of "AUTOSTAT" agency, in our country there are 1 million 114 thousand cars, the age of which exceeds 35 years (as of January 1st, 2023). Thus, the share of cars produced before 1988 is 2.5% of the total.

About 60% of such cars belonged to LADA brand, which is 649 thousand units. Japanese Toyota is the second one in this ranking (153.2 thousand units), which occupies about a seventh of the 35+ fleet. The TOP-5 also includes Moskvich (44.6 thousand units), Nissan (42.6 thousand units) and Audi (38.5 thousand units).

Among the models over the age of 35, the first three positions naturally belong to Lada, namely: the "2106" (share - 15.6%), "Kopeika" (15.5%) and "Niva" (7. 9%). As you can see, they have about 40% of these cars.

In the regional rating "35+" Primorsky Territory is the leader, in which 12.1% of this fleet is concentrated. Irkutsk region with a share of 5.1% followed. These figures are slightly lower at Krasnodar and Altai Territories (4.3% and 4.1%). Kaliningrad region finishes the top-five in terms of the number of registered cars with age over 35 years old (3.8%).
