The specialists of the agency "AUTOSTAT" decided to see how the priorities of the Russians have changed in 2023, by prompting them to change their existing car. To do this, they analyzed the results of surveys conducted jointly with AUTO Mail.ru in 2019 and early 2023. It turns out there is a difference between them. The most popular reason* for buying the next car, the majority of car owners, participants of the survey both in 2019 and 2023, called the fact that "the time for a car selling at an affordable price has come up." However, experts noted that in 2019 every second respondent answered this way (50.8% of the total number of respondents), and in 2023 this category decreased by almost 10% (39.6% remained). A similar story is observed with such incentives as "a new, more interesting model has come out" (-7.7% in compare with the result of 2019) and "the appearance of savings" (-10%).

There are fewer of those who are ready to change the car when the manufacturer's warranty period comes to an end (-10.3%). The share of those who would like to update their vehicle has decreased due to salary growth and status increase. At the same time, the number of those who are pushed to buy by frequent breakdowns of existing vehicle has increased (this category has grown from 12.1% to 24.6%) and whose cars have been in accidents (from 3.3% to 9.7%). There are also slightly more those who change cars simply because they are tired of them (+4.3%) and those who change cars because of a new hobby (+5.8%).
