AVTOVAZ is negotiating with three Chinese companies on the production of cars under LADA brand

AVTOVAZ is negotiating with three Chinese companies to launch the production of cars under the LADA brand at its sites and expects to complete these negotiations this year. This was reported to TASS agency by the president of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, by specifying that we are talking about the company's sites in Izhevsk, St. Petersburg, as well as about one of the plants in Togliatti - LADA Zapad Togliatti, where the LADA Niva Travel SUV was previously produced (former Chevrolet Niva). According to Mr. Sokolov, the new family of cars, which AVTOVAZ plans to produce at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, will be called X-cross. He also recalled that the manufacturer intends to release several new models in new segments - C and D (mid-size and full-size cars, both sedans and crossovers). By the end of 2023, AVTOVAZ expects to produce up to 10,000 LADA vehicles at the site in St. Petersburg, depending on the dynamics of demand in the Russian car market. In 2025 - 2027, the production at the enterprise can reach up to 50 - 70 thousand cars per year if there is a positive trend in the market.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, within the framework of the recent dealer conference in Sochi, AVTOVAZ demonstrated to its participants a new LADA X-cross 5 crossover. The production of this model will begin at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg in June 2023. The appearance of LADA X-cross 5 is similar to FAW Bestune T77 crossover. “The price range of LADA X-cross 5 will be determined by the time the production of this model starts. Competitors will be Chinese classmate models. For example, Chery Tiggo 7 PRO, Changan СS35PLUS, Geely Atlas Pro. Competitive advantages of the new LADA model can be the price and equipment,” Alexander Shaprinsky, development director of Pragmatika company, informed AUTOSTAT agency.
