What engine oil do Russian car owners use?

Russian car owners have begun to pour Russian-made oils into the engines of their cars more often. This was shown by an online survey conducted by specialists of agency "AUTOSTAT" at the end of 2022 as part of the next survey "AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS: engine oils". A survey of consumer preferences showed that just two years ago, domestically produced motor oils poured into car engines accounted for 23% of the total, that is, they were used by almost every fifth car owner. However, the situation quickly changed and in November 2022 the number of those who prefer domestic oils increased to 31%. This is almost every third. It is logical to assume that the change in the market situation had an impact there - the departure of a number of foreign oil producers and the increase in prices for products of some brands, which are now brought to a country with more complex logistics.

The experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" decided to see what oils of domestic production are in the TOP-5 most common today. As part of the survey, car owners were asked to answer which brand of oil was poured into the engine of their vehicle (at the time of the survey). The top five was headed by Lukoil motor oils, they were named by 12.5% of respondents (or every eighth). The second position in our rating was occupied by oils of the SINTEC brand (3.3%).

The top three also included Genesis brand (2.9%). And our TOP-5 products were completed by Gazpromneft and Rosneft (2.7% and 2.4%, respectively). Experts believe that in connection with the course taken in the country for import substitution, the situation will continue to change.
