Dealer Avtodom became the owner of Mercedes-Benz plant in Russia

Avtodom dealer group has closed a deal to acquire Russian assets of German automaker Mercedes-Benz, including the car plant near Moscow (Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Rus LLC). As follows from the data of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Avtodom JSC became the owner of 100% of the shares in MBMR and Mercedes-Benz Capital Rus LLC (it was engaged in leasing, factoring and car insurance) on April 18th, Interfax agency writes. Thus, the dealer closed the deal, which was announced at the end of October, when Mercedes officially announced its withdrawal from Russia and its intention to sell the assets to Avtodom.

According to sources of Izvestia newspaper, the assembly of Chinese premium cars of Hongqi brand may begin at the Mercedes-Benz plant in the Moscow region. Crossovers may be the first to go into production, and one of them, the HS5, has already been certified in Russia at the end of 2022. Recall that the opening of Mercedes-Benz plant in the Esipovo industrial park near Moscow took place in April 2019. The company produced Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans, as well as GLE, GLC and GLS SUVs. The production capacity of the plant is more than 25 thousand cars per year. The company covers all technological stages - from body assembly and painting to final assembly.
