Banks told how electric cars are sold on preferential car loans

Currently, within the framework of the state program of preferential car loans, only Evolute electric vehicles manufactured at Motorinvest plant in Lipetsk can be purchased. For all categories of borrowers, the discount is 25% of the cost of the car, but no more than 625 thousand rubles. On the eve of 5th annual auto business forum "FinAuto - 2023. Financial instruments of the car market", which "AUTOSTAT" agency will hold on April 20 in Moscow, banks informed how electric cars are sold on preferential car loans. According to Aleksey Bocharnikov, head of the Autocrediting department at VTB, electric vehicles currently account for less than 1% of the state program, which is due to the still low supply on the market. However, the share of such cars in car loans issuance is gradually growing, despite the decrease in the discount this year.

"We expect sales of electric cars to grow with the introduction of such domestic models as Elecar 5E-Tigarbo, as well as increased benefits for this type of engine: free travel on toll roads, the abolition of parking fees," he says. In turn, Marina Dembitskaya, head of Otkritie Auto (auto business unit of Otkritie Bank), believes that given the recent dynamic development of the charging infrastructure and other benefits for electric cars, the preferential lending program will give an additional impetus to the development of environmentally friendly vehicles in our country. Thus, Evolute became the leader of electric car segment in Russia in the first quarter of 2023.

"Thanks to government support and low competition with other electric vehicles, Evolute sales are growing steadily. The maximum possible discount of the state program is also attractive - 625 thousand rubles. Considering the cost of a car, the main buyers of electric vehicles are borrowers with above-average income," said Alexei Bessonov, head of the product policy department at Rosbank Auto.
