How many passenger cars were produced in Q1 2023?

For three months of this year, there were assembled 104.5 thousand passenger cars intended for the Russian market at car factories located in the EAEU countries. And this is 30.5% lower than in the 1st quarter of 2022. This was reported by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" during the online broadcast "AUTOSTAT Operational. As for the last month, in March the production volume was 34.8 thousand passenger cars. This is lower than in February (40 thousand units). Most of all, LADA cars were assembled (18.4 thousand units), and the share of AVTOVAZ in the total was 52.8%. Experts noted that AVTOVAZ had problems with the supply of components, that is why it has already reduced assembly volumes and announced the postponement of corporate holidays. During this time, the company's management hopes to resolve the situation with the supply of components. The TOP-3 manufacturers remain the same: Haval Motor is the second one in terms of production volumes (5.5 thousand units), BelGee is the third one (4.4 thousand units).

As for the rest, the executive director of the agency "AUTOSTAT" Sergey Udalov separately dwelled on the production of Kaiyi cars in Kaliningrad, noting that the assembly volumes are increasing there: in March, 1.5 thousand units were already produced. In addition, 1.7 thousand cars were assembled at the Moskvich plant in March, and the assembly of BAIC cars began at Avtotor in April. Thus, the “group of pursuers of AVTOVAZ” increases the volumes. “I think that during the year a number of Chinese brands will organize their production in Russia and I believe that production will occupy ever greater volumes and a greater share in the market...”, the expert concluded his comment.
