AEB: Russian car market decreased by 11% in March 2023

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia decreased by 10.6% in March to 48,414 vehicles. According to the results of three months of 2023, Russian car market was 153,477 cars (-44.7%), according to the data of the Association of European Businesses.

Meanwhile, as the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" reported with reference to the data of JSC "PPK" *, Russian market volume of new cars in March was 69 913 units, which is 11.4% lower in compare with the same month of last year. Since the beginning of the year, 117,282 passenger cars have been sold in Russia, which is 35.1% lower than in January-March 2022. Leadership in the market is held by the domestic brand LADA – last month, Russians purchased 24,252 of these cars (+41.9%).

Among foreign cars, the most popular is Chinese brand Chery, whose result was 8037 cars (an increase of 4.2 times). The third place in the sales ranking is occupied by Haval with 6850 sold cars (an increase of 2.5 times). Geely is the next, its models were chosen by 5257 buyers (an increase of 3.3 times). EXEED vehicles sold 3,368 units, 4.1 times higher than the previous year.

The top-10 of leaders of the Russian car market in March also included Kia (3366 units, -64.2%), Hyundai (2864 units, -66.5%), OMODA (2395 units), Toyota (1942 units, -59.4%) and Changan (1030 units, 3.7 times growth).
