Every third passenger car in the Russian parc has a domestic origin

Against the background of the active import of foreign cars of various origins to Russia, the experts of analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" decided to see how many and what kind of cars we have today in the country's car parc. According to the agency, as of January 1st, 2023, there were about 45 million 391.6 thousand cars in the Russian Federation. Of these, about a third (33.6% or 15.2 million units) has a domestic origin. In second place in terms of fleet volume there are Japanese cars, their number at the beginning of the year was 10.6 million units (23.4% of the total number of the Russian car fleet). Cars from South Korea are the next in our ranking (6.1 million units or 13.4%). The TOP-5 in terms of parc size also includes cars from Germany (4.7 million units) and the USA (3.2 million units).

It is also worth noting French and Czech cars, the number of which in the Russian roads exceeds 1 million units (2.7 million and 1.1 million, respectively). The closest to the million mark in terms of number among the remaining cars are Chinese brands - they are in our ranking in eighth position with 909.6 thousand units.
