Car dealers named the most deficit foreign cars in Russia

The most deficit among popular foreign cars of the mass segment in the Russian Federation was recorded for the French brand Renault. This was reported to the RIA Novosti agency in the Russian Automobile Dealers Association, by adding that there is also a shortage - but not as acute - for the South Korean brands Kia and Hyundai. In addition, very small stocks remained for Volkswagen and Skoda, they said in Rolf. "Among the mass brands in the Russian market there are: Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan. All mass brands are still represented in the SUV lineup, but there is a shortage in the B and B + segments. Now they are presented in extremely limited quantities: Volkswagen, Skoda, Renault, these are the remains of imported cars. The deficit will be observed while it is replaced by Chinese brands,” said Maksim Zlatokrylets, director of new car sales at the company.

He also clarified that Rolf seeks to make up for the shortage of the most popular car models through alternative supply channels. Since March 2022, most of automakers don’t supply cars to Russian dealers due to a break in supply chains or the suspension of their activities due to external sanctions. Moreover, some officially announced their withdrawal from the Russian market, while retaining the opportunity to return at the first opportunity. Let us recall that the first to "slam the door” was American General Motors, which, however, was nominally presented in our country anyway, by selling only a few premium models of Chevrolet and Cadillac. But the departure of Renault thundered like a bolt from the blue, because the French company not only had its own enterprise in Moscow with a high level of localization of production, but was also the largest shareholder of AVTOVAZ.

As a result, Russian assets of Renault were transferred to the state for a nominal fee with the possibility of their return to a foreign investor within 6 years. According to the same scheme, Japanese Nissan, which had a plant in St. Petersburg, later left our country. But Mercedes-Benz, Mazda and Ford sold their enterprises to local partners who intend to restart them this year. Toyota also closed its Russian plant; this enterprise can become the property of NAMI. The largest manufacturer of foreign cars - Hyundai - has limited itself by reducing the staff of its plant in St. Petersburg.
