AVTOVAZ proposed that the former Nissan plant, which had previously been taken over by the Russian manufacturer, be given a new name - LADA St. Petersburg. This was reported to TASS agency by AVTOVAZ President, Maxim Sokolov, by adding that this name must be approved accordingly, not only on the Board of Directors of AVTOVAZ, but also with the government of St. Petersburg in accordance with regional legislation.
As a reminder, AvtoVAZ plans to start car production at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg in the second half of 2023. These will be new models under the LADA brand in C and D segments, including crossovers and sedans. According to unofficial data, one of them will be the localized FAW Bestune T77 mid-size crossover. Currently, AVTOVAZ is actively negotiating with several potential partners that are at the final stage, and it may even be more than one Chinese automaker.
By the end of 2023, AVTOVAZ expects to produce up to 10,000 LADA vehicles at the site in St. Petersburg, depending on the dynamics of demand in the Russian car market. In 2025 - 2027, the production at the enterprise can reach up to 50 - 70 thousand cars per year if there is a positive trend in the market.
